Parent/Guardians: Complete the following form with your teen. Teens who are 18 can complete this form on their own. Indian Prairie Public Library’s Volunteen program is limited to teens who have turned 13 by June 1, and who attend a school or live in the library’s district. Note: All teens must sign up and attend Summer Volunteen Training.
What you can expect from us as a volunteer
- Our appreciation: We value our volunteers and work to create a positive and encouraging experience.
- Supervision: Library staff provide training, oversee tasks, and set schedules.
- Reference Letter: After teens complete volunteer assignments, the Programming & Outreach Librarian, Teen Services, can provide a confirmation of hours letter upon request.
What we expect from you as a volunteer:
- Dependability: Arrive on time. Teens should contact the library if they cannot volunteer as scheduled.
- Professional Work Habits: Teens should complete tasks to the best of their abilities and ask for help if needed.
- Policy-Informed: Teens must respect all library policies, procedures, and the code of conduct during their volunteer shifts.
- Dress Code: Teens should dress comfortably and appropriately.
- Confidentiality: Teens shall maintain the confidentiality of all information while volunteering at the library.
- Guest Experience: Teens should prioritize a welcoming and friendly attitude during interactions with IPPL guests during shifts to mirror the welcoming and inclusive guest interactions that are expected of anyone representing IPPL.
