What draws me into a story are strong well-rounded characters, descriptive places, and a sense of being a part of something new and unknown to me. A story that takes me on a journey and leaves me missing the characters, subject, or place long after I have finished the book.

Although I tend to read fiction I also enjoy quirky non-fiction, graphic novels, and memoirs too. Some of my favorites from these genres are "The Island of Lost Maps : a true story of cartographic crime" by Miles Harvey, "Anya's Ghost" by Vera Brosgol, "Mouse Guard: Legends of the Guard" by David Peterson, and "The Word Detective : searching for the meaning of it all at the Oxford English Dictionary : a memoir" by J.A. Simpson.
